Our signature
The lilac and pink coatsalmost nobody else has.
Both of our pink colors trace back to Polar Bear, the male whose line Canan built this part of the program around. Rare color is not luck. It is one cat, chosen deliberately, and then several generations of pairing decisions made to keep what he brought and improve everything around it.
Lilac golden shaded — “pink”
The rarest thing we produce. A lilac base under golden shading gives a coat with no grey in it at all — warm, powdery and genuinely pink in daylight, deepening to a soft mauve in the shade. Lilac alone is uncommon in British Shorthairs; lilac carrying golden is rarer still, and the pairing that reliably produces it took years to assemble.

The blue-based version of the same effect: cool smoke tipping over a warm apricot undercoat, with the rosy cast coming through where the light hits. It reads softer and cooler than the lilac and is the color families most often choose when they've come looking for the pink and want a little more depth in the coat.

Meet your kitten and reserve
Visit in Houston or video call from anywhere. A deposit of half the kitten's price and a signed contract hold that specific kitten for you.

Homecoming between 8 and 12 weeks
Canan sets the date per kitten, on how it's nursing and how its growth is coming along. Collect in Houston, or we hand deliver by car across Texas and by flight nanny nationwide.

Canan has spent more than two decades preserving and improving the British Shorthair and British Longhair, working with some of the finest bloodlines in Europe and breeding for health, temperament, strong genetics and the true traditional breed standard.
Over her career she has placed both beloved pet kittens and exceptional breeding cats with responsible families and reputable catteries in many countries around the world.
Health testing in our program
All breeding cats in my program undergo regular veterinary health checks and are selected based on overall health, temperament, and genetic quality. Health testing includes screening for FIV and FeLV, as well as genetic and cardiac evaluations such as HCM screening. Where applicable, PKD testing is also performed to ensure healthy breeding lines. My priority is to maintain strong, healthy British Shorthair and British Longhair lines, with a focus on responsible and ethical breeding practices.
Genetic and cardiac testing such as PKD and HCM is done where a line calls for it rather than on a schedule for every cat, so it isn’t issued automatically with every kitten. Ask about a specific mother and father and Canan will tell you exactly what has been done and send you the records that exist.

The things people ask us most
How do I reserve a British Shorthair kitten?
Fill in the reservation form on this site and you'll immediately get a customer number on screen: something like HCM-2607-4H2K. Canan then calls or emails you within 24 hours to talk through which kitten suits your household. If it's a good fit, a deposit of half the kitten's price holds that specific kitten, and the remaining half is due when it goes home. You do not need Instagram or any social media account to reserve; phone and email work perfectly well.
What is my customer number for?
It's your reference for everything that follows. Quote it when you call, text or email and Canan can pull up your enquiry, which kitten you're interested in and where your reservation stands, instead of trying to work out which of several Sarahs you are. Write it down or keep the confirmation email.
How much is the deposit?
Half the kitten's price. It is not a flat fee, so it moves with the kitten: a $3,000 kitten takes a $1,500 deposit and a $4,200 kitten takes $2,100. The remaining half is due at homecoming. Each kitten's own page shows its price, and Canan will confirm the exact deposit figure in writing before you send anything.
Is the deposit refundable?
The deposit is non-refundable if you simply change your mind, because holding a kitten means turning other families away. It is fully refundable if anything happens on our side: if the kitten becomes unwell, fails its final vet check, or we cannot deliver the kitten you reserved for any reason. It can also be transferred to a future litter if your circumstances change and you talk to us early.
How much do your kittens cost?
Pet kittens generally run between $2,200 and $4,500. Price is set per kitten on three things: its color, its exact color code on the pedigree, and its type — modern, baby face, bear face or classic. Traditional blues sit at the lower end. Golden shaded and golden chinchilla sit above them. Our lilac and pink coats sit at the top, because very few of them exist anywhere. Every listed kitten shows its own price. Breeding rights are priced separately and are only ever sold to established, registered catteries.
Why are two kittens from the same litter priced differently?
Because they are not the same cat. Littermates can differ in color, in the color code that ends up on the pedigree, and in how strongly they express their type — a bear face either has the wide cheek pads or it doesn't. On top of that, some pairings take years of breeding decisions to arrive at, and the rarer the result, the higher the price.
